Until 2017, 401-403 Main Street, Metuchen, New Jersey was the tallest building in Downtown, Metuchen, New Jersey (53 feet high, but only 3 stories), as well as being one of the oldest. The building, originally known as Robins Hall, was built almost 150 years ago at a time when Main Street was a dirt road and horses were the primary means of transportation.
Nassau Development, L.P., an affiliate of U.S. Real Estate Acquisitions, L.L.C., purchased the building in 1994, gutted it and created 7 apartments.
The apartments have 16 foot high ceilings, 10 foot high windows and central air conditioning. Each of the apartments have a loft within the apartment.
The facade facing the Metuchen Train Station is improved with a mural by Steve Powers, and with a mural by Ricardo Roig, both installed by the Metuchen Downtown Alliance Public Art Team.
The building is just steps from the Metuchen train station with easy access North to New York City and Newark, and South to Princeton and Trenton. There is also easy access to the Garden State Parkway, NJ Turnpike, Route 287 and Route 1. The Jersey Shore is a short drive away.
Robins Hall is in the heart of Downtown Metuchen with stores, restaurants, pubs, hair salons, dry cleaners, fitness studios and nail salons within steps of the front door.
